A fountain of colour in lemon yellow, mauve, lime green and turquoise draws the viewer’s eye to this intriguing work by Aron Hill. The Calgary artist is playing with space, form and colour here. A cut out in black—the distinctive outline of a cross adds detail, a blue line adds interest. Hill’s work recalls the shapes and vibrant colour palette of modernists like Jack Bush and minimalists like Ellsworth Kelly.

“One of the interests for subject matter are religious themes. I grew up seeing a lot of this…this type of symbolism.” Aron Hill

They obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and their MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
