About the Work
A flat, ice-white polygon and its echoed black outline are stamped over intersecting and overlapping arcs of flat colour -- grape purple, lemon yellow, lime, sea blue, and light brown -- in this acrylic and ink painting on canvas. Here the artist plays with space, flattening it and hinting at foreground or background. The appearance of a small orange shape that almost touches the curated arcs balances the composition. Hill works in the late modernist traditions of concept and minimalism emphasizing the viewer's participation in the work. Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and his MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. He has exhibited across Canada and in Dubai.
