Biography
Born in Watertown, New York, in 1943, Hughto majored in art studies at Suny College in Buffalo, NY. He obtained an MFA at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. Darryl Hughto developed his reputation as an abstract painter in New York City during the seventies. His large scale acrylic landscapes speak intently about his roots in Abstract Formalism. He has exhibited throughout North America and in Europe. Hughto’s work is held in prestigious private and public collections including the Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
