Nie Jian Bing’s artwork offers a twist on classic portraiture by challenging how we look at historical figures and images of the Renaissance. The artwork begins with a European portrait, a detailed depiction, which is then superimposed with a grid of asymmetrical acupuncture meridians. It's in this way Nie Jian Bing takes a look at Western culture through an Eastern lens.

Trained in France, Nie Jian Bing divides his time between Montreal, Paris and China. His work is held in public and private collections in Canada and abroad.
