Country Church AJ Casson

Oil on Board
11.8 × 14.5 inches
29.8 × 36.8 cm

In 1955 Casson returned again to his geometric style of the mid 1940’s which included a kind of exploded symmetry. Planes are marshalled one against the other across the surface to form a staccato pattern. The use of a minimal palette of green and white, combined with the shape’s hard edges, create dramatic impact.
