About Resonance

Refreshing fields of watermelon and lime enliven the pictorial space of Resonance. Working with a new medium and a new palette, Teichert is communicating with us more subtly than ever before: her line, while viscerally present, offers itself as an absence - a fissure between forms; a crack where the light breaks through. Soft rays of white pigment emanate out from the pulsing line like northern lights, and the viewer into fields of color. The painting is so fresh and so deep as to be disorienting, were it not for the circular and oblong 'pauses' of solid color points that bop through the paintings strategically like a metronome with its own agenda, leading one's eye from place to place, drawing the viewer in and out.

Multidisciplinary artist Alice Teichert is known for her use of bold colours and layered transparencies interspersed with script like line drawings. Teichert studied music, philosophy and visual arts in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 30 solo exhibitions in Germany, France, NY, Canada, Switzerland and Australia. Teichert’s paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections including the MacLaren Art Centre, Global Affairs Canada, and the Musée de la Ville de Valence, France.

An English-German edition of a monograph by Dagmar Täube, titled In)Formation - On the Philosophy and Art of Alice Teichert has recently been published by Hirmer Publishers, Münich, Germany.
