The distinctive visual language of Calgary artist Aron Hill is characterized by bold, simple form and vivid palettes. Central to much of his work is the image of the sun, here in bright pink, symbolic of a guiding light. Hill’s recent minimalist artwork explores a more personal narrative reflective of their life as an artist, a writer and a parent. The canvas is divided into three distinct rectangles, divided by a thin yellow line—the sun, a black canvas, and the largest is filled with dozens of expressive vertical markings.

Aron Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and their MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
