About the Work
This playful graphic based work in kelly green, white and black with the look of a heraldic shield is rimmed with gold leaf. The gold casts reflective, glowing highlights like a halo around the shaped work. Hill's vibrant work recalls aspects of minimalism and echoes the shaped colorfield paintings of Ellsworth Kelly. Hill's choice of solid colors, restricted medium and flattened space also reflects the influence of modern painters Jack Bush and William Perehudoff. Aron Hill currently lives and works in Calgary, Alberta. He graduated from Alberta College of Art and Design in 2000 with a BFA in Interdisciplinary studies. He then completed his MFA at Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. Hill has exhibited across Canada and in Dubai.
