Branch-like, scratched lines in black pastel on a burnished grey ground underline five rounded shapes in silver leaf in this intimate work on paper by Ben Woolfitt. Within the composition a phrase, "It is like the sky but they said we would be OK" is handwritten with the date, August 4, 2017 and place, Toronto, next to the artist's name. The piece, like a diary entry is a poetic rumination on a personal and idiosyncratic moment. Framed dimensions are 25 x 31 inches. Born in Saskatchewan, Ben Woolfitt has lived in Toronto since 1965 when he came to study at Founders College, York University. In 1966, he made a trip to New York City and while there was introduced to the paintings of Rothko, Louis, Hofmann and Olitski.
