About Float AP 1/4

Charles Pachter captures an iconic image of summer in this pop art print of a boat beside a dock.

Beloved as one of Canada’s finest artists, the iconic Charles Pachter is collected both here and internationally. Over several decades, the Toronto-born artist has carved out a distinctly unique visual style that embraces the simplicity of pop art form. Known best for celebrating national images—the moose, the Queen, and the Canadian flag- Pachter’s charming work also extends to classic images of our seasons. Here, summer at the cottage is recalled with the graphic image of a long curved dock jutting out into a lake, a single motor boat moored at the end. The bold, clean lines of the dock are almost architectural, rendered in gray, the boat in white and black pops against the deep blue of the water. Artist’s Proof, one of four.

“Pachter’s art is woven into the very fabric of his country’s iconography and public consciousness.” Tom Smart, writer, art museum curator
