Embrasement Claude Millette

Corten Steel
110 × 32 × 32 inches
279.4 × 81.28 × 81.28 cm

Quebec artist Claude Millette is known for his imaginative and imposing sculptural work. This abstract piece—a curved column with several small boxes precariously perched above it is hand forged from corten steel. Over time the sculpture will acquire a natural rust-coloured patina—an appropriate finish given that ‘embrasement’ in French refers to fire, flames, or burning. “Though staunchly non-figurative, my productions are not strictly abstractions per se: from the moment the gesture expresses an emotion or a reflection, the work is imbued with feeling.” Claude Millette Born in Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Millette studied at the École de sculpture de Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and apprenticed with sculptors Robert Poulin and Jordi Bonet. Millette's works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
