About the Work

Bronze wall hanging mask. One in a series of four different created by Dale Dunning. Dunning often uses found objects as the basis for his sculptures. In this case, hand carved antique wood decorative elements used early in the last century to adorn furniture have been assembled, molds created, and then, using the lost wax process, he has constructed the bronze masks. These are the Artist's Proofs, and the masks will be produced in an edition of 7. Dunning received his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy in Michigan. His work is in many public and private collections, and has been exhibited across Canada. Most recently it was featured in Diacritics, a publication of Johns Hopkins University. He is represented by the Oeno Gallery and this series is featured in MODERN BEAUTY, an exhibition of his work in August 2014.
