American abstract painter Dan Christensen (1942-2007) was born in Cozad, Nebraska. This etching was created as part of a special print project titled "HOMAGE TO JACK BUSH PORTFOLIO (SUITE OF 8), 1983-4, published by Merriot Editions, Ltd. Toronto, 1984. Each print was created by a different artist: Joseph Drapell, Freidel Dzubas, Kathleen Margaret Graham, Dorothy Knowles, Darryl Hughton, Dan Christensen, William Perehudoff and Michael Steiner. Dan Christensen was an American artist best known for his swirling, ribbon-like line paintings. Over the course of his career, Christensen garnered a Guggenheim Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, and a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant. Shortly before his death on January 20, 2007 in East Hampton, NY, a retrospective of his work was exhibited at the Spanierman Gallery in New York. His works are in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and the Wichita Art Museum, among others.
