In this charming oil portrait of a foyer, a dilapidated wall provides the backdrop for a well-loved straw hat, a royal blue coat, black and red umbrellas and a shelf filled with a child’s toys, a clock and a mini potted cactus. Dmitry Yuzefovich’s work is a representation of memory—the recollection of moments from the past.
“My work looks like a postcard from the past. For me, this is a piece of my memory.”
Born in Ukraine, Yuzefovich obtained a BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, Israel in 2000 and an MFA in 2005. He moved to Canada with his family in 2015 and lives in Nova Scotia. Yuzefovich has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions. His paintings have been collected in Israel, Canada, the US, England and Europe.
