Dmitry Yuzefovich’s paintings are so rich in detail and so realistic they almost appear to be photographs. His subject matter is nostalgic; inspired by his memory of familiar places and objects from the past. This charming composition is of carefully curated objects in a foyer—a worn blue jacket, a broken umbrella, a leather satchel, a cap hanging on hooks. It is mounted above a small white chest, a geranium in a clay pot, a red old-fashioned alarm clock, a book, and a few chess pieces. The backdrop is a gray plaster wall, the paint peeling, a few numbers and letters scattered across it. Yuzefovich’s colour palette is rich—a mix of light and dark—blues, a hint of red, earthy tones—black, brown and white.
“I believe in the details. Details is a God. Details talk to people. My realistic style is my language.” Dmitry Yuzefovich
