From his studio on the Niagara escarpment, Canadian artist Floyd Elzinga’s work merges iconic imagery from the landscape – the maple leaf, pine branch and pinecone – with pop art. His pieces are both playful and inspiring. This tabletop sculpture made of corten steel has a weathered patina and balances beautifully an industrial material with a natural form. “The natural world is fundamentally my inspiration, and it is strongly reflected in my subject matter.” Floyd Elzinga His pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS.
