Hand forged from weathering steel Floyd Elzinga’s tabletop sculpture of a pine cone reflects the rugged natural landscape that surrounds his studio. Elzinga is known for re-creating iconic Canadian images—the pinecone, the maple leaf and the pine branch using industrial materials. His pieces are both playful—pop art and inspiring.
“The natural world is fundamentally my inspiration, and it is strongly reflected in my subject matter.” Floyd Elzinga
His pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS.
