Floyd Elzinga’s rustic pine cones are so natural in form they could have dropped from a pine tree. This hand forged tabletop sculpture is made from weathering steel which has an attractive rust-coloured patina. The Canadian sculptor is known for creating hand forged uniquely beautiful pieces that focus on imagery found in the natural world—trees, the maple leaf and pine cones.
“The natural world is fundamentally my inspiration, and it is strongly reflected in my subject matter.” Floyd Elzinga
His pinecone sculptures have been featured as part of Toronto’s Scotiabank Nuit Blanche celebration of contemporary art, and his work is held in collections across Ontario and in the US. Elzinga received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design in Halifax, NS.
