About Convergence Indigo
As if in a dance, four stainless steel tubes converge creating an elegant and dynamic composition. This is the vision of partners Jean-Francois Maheux and Natalie Mercier, two Quebec artists well known for their public art installations in their home province. The viewer’s eye is drawn to the center of the piece where two white marble balls painted with indigo blue appear to float in mid-air. This sculpture is powder-coated to retain its shine.“We work a lot on the level of evolution, time and memory. These are themes that come up in our practices.” Nadia Mercier
Both Maheux and Mercier began their art studies in Quebec’s CEGEP school system akin to college. Now partners, they have worked together as sculptors for more than 16 years. Jean-François Maheux specializes in stone cutting and aerospace machining techniques. Nadia Mercier holds a bachelor's degree in visual and media arts from UQAM in Montreal. Maheux and Mercier have participated in several symposiums and competitions. Their work has appeared in solo and collective exhibitions and is held both publicly and privately.
