Engineered Black Granite
77 × 21 × 17 inches
195.58 × 53.34 × 43.18 cm

Smooth black granite has been engineered by Canadian artist Jeremy Guy into an elegant outdoor sculpture in the form of a mobius strip. Discovered by the German mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius, a Möbius strip is a surface with only one side and one boundary. You can easily create your own Möbius strip by taking a strip of paper, giving it a half-twist and joining the ends to form a loop. Number 12 in an edition of 50 and available by commission. The sculpture weighs about 600 lbs. "In my own abstract work I am acutely aware that nature champions great design. From the shaping of a beach pebble through years of tidal and elemental erosion to the myriad forms found in biology, I am often awestruck.” Jeremy Guy He grew up in England where natural inspiration has come from the work of British modern sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. Since completing a BA in Product Design (2001) from Leeds Metropolitan University, Guy has been in full time practice as a sculptor. He emigrated to Canada in 2007. Guy's stone and engineered stone sculptures can be found in public spaces and private collections worldwide. Available on commission. Allow 6-8 weeks for completing before shipping. Different base options available.
