About Flame Symmetry
Metaphors of time, space, earth, and its elements are reflected in the elegant contemporary glass wall sculptures by Canadian artist John Paul Robinson. Three hand blown glass pieces banded in the center with copper are mounted beside one another mimicking the glowing flames of a fire. In western culture, fire and water are essential elements of the earth that sustain life.“It’s important to me that my work be about something. So, I spend a lot of time reading, writing and basically researching ideas and issues that inform my work.” John Paul Robinson
He was educated at the Georgian College of Arts and Technology and the Ontario College of Art where he later taught for several years. Robinson is a Fellow of The Creative Glass Center of America, recipient of the Joan Chalmers Glass Award and has twice received the Best Glass Award at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition. His works are in corporate, private and public collections. John Paul Robinson is represented exclusively by Oeno Gallery.
