Toronto’s Julie Himel is known for her evocative use of colour and abstracted form in her landscapes. This piece is rendered in a melange of rich, earthy browns highlighted by creamy yellow, a patch of dark red and a pale blue sky in the background. A devoted environmentalist, Himel’s work is always inspired by time spent in nature.
“Each piece is truly its own entity and very unique…Each palette is its own thing. Each piece is its own world.” Julie Himel
She completed a BFA at York University with additional studies at the Toronto School of Art and Langara College in Vancouver. Himel has been painting professionally for more than 20 years. Her award-winning paintings can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
