This dreamlike portrait of a forest by Toronto’s Julie Himel is rendered in pretty shades of pinks, purples, yellows and green. Himel, a devoted environmentalist, is known for her inventive use of colour. This mixed media piece captures sunlight filtering through a glade. The viewer is immediately drawn into the stillness of the landscape.
“Each piece is truly its own entity and very unique…Each palette is its own thing. Each piece is its own world.” Julie Himel
She completed a BFA at York University with additional studies at the Toronto School of Art and Langara College in Vancouver. Himel has been painting professionally for more than 20 years. Her award-winning paintings can be found in private, corporate and public collections.
