Old Bitch 2/6 Nicholas Crombach
- 8 × 14 × 4 inches
20.32 × 35.56 × 10.16 cm
Cast in bronze, this figurine of a dairy cow in a stance used for prize show dogs, reveals the artist's themes of human-animals relationships, domestication and conquest. These multi-layered meanings and complex interpretations are yet imbued with humor. This sculpture is number 2 in an edition of 6. Nicholas Crombach graduated from OCAD University’s Sculpture and Installation program in 2012. Since then he has been awarded the Hayden Davies Memorial Award, Samuel Lazar Kagan Award, Abraham and Malka Green Award, and a BMO 1st Art Nomination. His work has been seen at Angell Gallery, Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects, the Red Head Gallery and Whippersnapper in Toronto. In 2012 Crombach executed a public art commission, Billy, Nanny, and the Kids, in Burlington. He has just completed a residency at The Florence Trust in London, UK. Crombach's work is held in private, corporate and public collections including Museu Europeu d'Art Modern (MEAM), Barcelona, Spain and First Capital Realty Inc., Toronto, ON.
