Bold and bright, this minimalist painting of a summer lake scene is by Pat Service. She is regarded as one of Canada’s foremost landscape artists. Here she has re-imagined a classic scene in simple form. The refreshing, vivid colour palette—brilliant yellow and hot pink with details in orange and blue is thoroughly contemporary.
“At a time when I was really breaking lose to go crazy with colour, Goldilocks is more abstract and devil be damned if the lake has to be blue and the trees green.” Pat Service
She acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of B.C. and later studied art at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. Service’s work is held in private collections in North America, Britain, Taiwan, Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
