Brilliant colours draw the viewer along for ‘the ride’ in this lyrical minimalist painting by Pat Service. Bold lines in yellow define the landscape, mountains in the distance, the road curving past country fields. Over the years many road trips down the trans-Canada highway have provided Service with rich mental pictures of the simple beauty of the Canadian landscape. This is a landscape re-imagined, pared down to the essentials. On y va. (Let’s go!)
“The road trip again becomes an excuse for the fun of putting strange marks, shapes, textures and colours together, to make something no-one has seen before.” Pat Service
