Der Wald--it means ‘forest’ in German. Canadian artist Peter Hoffer has re-imagined the landscape in this colourful contemporary portrait of a forest. Rendered in bright turquoise and orange, elegant bare deciduous trees stand tall in the foreground of this mixed media work. The background provides intriguing contrast—dark green fir trees offer glimpses of a blue and rose-coloured sky.
"You start seeing the scratches…and the blobs of paint and the drips and to me that's what is communicating the true landscape, the layers. That's what's interesting, the layers." Peter Hoffer
