About the Work
A polished stainless steel ball is framed by cardinal red in this outdoor sculpture by French artist Philippe Pallafray. The industrial, minimalist sculpture sits in dramatic contrast to the natural environment and yet also mirrors it back to the viewer through the reflective ball. This work is available by commission with 4 to 6 weeks required before delivery. It is editioned 1 out of 9. Philippe Pallafray is a member of the Sculptors Society of Canada and of the Conseil des métiers d’art du Québec. Born in France, he emigrated to Canada ten years ago and currently lives on Ile d’Orléans, Québec. He uses steel and stainless steel that he cuts, shapes, folds, and welds. Pallafray likes to use geometric and curved forms in his sculptures to tame and play with light. His sculptures have been exhibited in Canada and the United States, both as part of group and solo exhibitions. They are also part of public and private collections in Canada, France, and the United States. In 2016 he was artist-in-residence in Saint-Georges de Beauce, Québec, to create the sculpture Aquagraphie for Veilleux Park.
