The female form, her head a reflective mirror is the subject of this steel sculpture by Canadian artist, R. Clarke Ellis. Can you see yourself? These laser cut pieces are painted black, so they absorb light and cast their own curious shadows. Clarke Ellis’s new work integrates minimalist forms with playful even theatrical themes expressed through colour and spatial tension. Ellis has a MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD). He began his career as an instructor at NSCAD before completing a degree in education from Queen's University.
