Bold, clean lines and vivid colours attract the viewer’s eye to this minimalist sculpture by Robert Clarke Ellis. The Toronto artist creates expressive pieces forged out of steel. The stick-like figures in black have yellow and red ‘heads’ that appear to be turned away from one another…hence, ‘past’ conversations. ‘Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory.’ (Dr. Seus) “The “humanness” of the figures speaks to the viewer to elicit a memory.`` Clarke Ellis He has an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD). He began his career as an instructor at NSCAD before completing a degree in education from Queen's University.
