About the Work
From beneath the ripples on the surface of calm water, a gold sun emerges through precise, geometric perforations. Gold leaf behind a laser cut black and white photograph creates the illusion of depth. This image is the first in an edition of 15. The work is framed in white with a silver front using museum glass. Framed dimensions are 21.25 x 21.25 inches and 2 inches deep. Ryan Van Der Hout's photo-based work has been exhibited across Canada, the U.K. and in New York, most notably as part of the AGO’s Collector’s series, as a featured Contact exhibition and Flash Forward 2016. His work has been supported by the Ontario Arts Council. Ryan is a graduate of Ryerson's photography program. His work has been published in The Huffington Post, CBC online, and Readers Digest.
