About the Work
From below a screen of rippling water, a gold mass rises through precise, geometric perforations in this mixed media image by Ryan Van Der Hout. Gold leaf behind a laser cut black and white photograph creates the illusion of depth. This work is the first in an edition of 15. It is framed using museum glass. Framed dimensions are: 20.25 x 20.25 inches. Ryan Van Der Hout's photo-based work has been exhibited across Canada, the U.K. and in New York, most notably as part of the AGO’s Collector’s series, as a featured Contact exhibition and Flash Forward 2016. His work has been supported by the Ontario Arts Council. Ryan is a graduate of Ryerson's photography program. His work has been published in The Huffington Post, CBC online, and Readers Digest.
