From below a screen of rippling water, a gold mass rises through precise, geometric perforations in this mixed media image by Ryan Van Der Hout. Gold leaf behind a laser cut black and white photograph creates the illusion of depth. This work is the first in an edition of 15. It is framed using museum glass. The frame on this work is a pewter colour measuring 20.25 x 20.5 inches. Ryan Van Der Hout's photo-based work has been exhibited across Canada, the U.K. and in New York, most notably as part of the AGO’s Collector’s series, as a featured Contact exhibition and Flash Forward 2016. His work has been supported by the Ontario Arts Council. Ryan is a graduate of Ryerson's photography program. His work has been published in The Huffington Post, CBC online, and Readers Digest.
