About Adrift No 13
From his studios in a renovated barn and a cabin in the Muskokas, Canadian abstract painter Scott Pattinson creates intensely colourful and captivating work. Using a broad brush and thick layers of oil Pattinson’s expressive work immediately engages the viewer. Adrift No 13 showcases a wild assortment of colour from blues, mauves, greens, yellows to reds and deep pink. This is one in a series of 16 paintings inspired by travel.
“Pattinson plays with the emotional triggers of colours, mostly by slamming together unlikely, even decadent, contrasting hues and then encases those associations, the metonymic readings possible, with harsh, cutting and calligraphic blackish strokes.” R. M. Vaughan, Montreal Art Critic
Pattinson studied architecture and urban design at the University of Toronto and completed a BES in Urban Design from the University of Waterloo. Since 2005, he has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows in galleries across Canada, including a 2014 retrospective at Gallery Stratford. His work is held at Gallery Stratford as well as in numerous corporate and private collections in Canada, Dubai, Italy, France and the US. Scott Pattinson is represented exclusively by the Oeno Gallery.
