About Kavir's World

The childhood home in Trinidad of artist Shani Mootoo is the subject of a series of intimate portraits she captured of its interior spaces. This bedroom in the old house has served generations and been re-imagined over time—the clutter of furniture, and objects—two single beds, a dresser, and the mannequins help tell that story. Mootoo’s compelling photographs in the ‘History Revisited Series” invite the viewer to explore these intriguing images. What do you see?

This framed and matted giclee print is editioned, 1/10. Framed size is 21 x 27 inches. It is also available in two larger sizes, 16 x 24 (framed 25 x 33 inches, edition of 8, $2,600); and 21 x 31.5 inches (30.5 x 40 inches framed, edition of 5, $3,400).

“It is there in that house that I see my roots and I wanted to record the marks on it before time takes it away forever.” Shani Mootoo
