Artist Simon Andrew returns to his homeland for the subject of this beautiful oil painting. Trereife is an 18th century Queen Anne style-manor house in the English countryside near Cornwall. Andrew’s rendering of one of many elegant hallways reflects the history of this stately home. The colours are suitably classic and rich; jet black, layers of grays and blues contrasting with a pop of orange in the wool carpet. The two lamps provide a warm halo that illuminates the scene. Andrew graduated with his MFA from Newcastle University in northeast England. He has exhibited widely with 27 solo shows in the UK and Canada. Andrew has received two Ontario Arts Council awards and won landscape competitions including the Laing National Landscape Competition and the Lawrence Atwell Award both in the UK. His work is in corporate, public and private collections including that of actor Mel Gibson and Queen Elizabeth. His work was featured on the cover of the Canadian band The Tragically Hip. Framed dimensions are 35 x 25.5 inches.
