About Grove of 5 in Blue, Purple, Green, Pink

Susan Rankin’s charming outdoor columns were inspired by her love of gardening. Sunlight shines through rings of brightly coloured hand-blown glass in turquoise, lime green, purple and pink. The ‘floral’ rings are stacked organically on 5 steel ‘stems’--columns that appear to sway gently in the breeze. Rankin has been a gardener for more than 25 years.

“When I think of gardens, I think of something larger than life. They are a physically manipulated, living space that can not only surround you, but also overpower you.” Susan Rankin

She graduated with honors from Sheridan College, Oakville Ontario, in 1989 and received a three-year artist in residency at the Harbourfront Centre glass studio. Rankin has studied glass at the Pilchuck Glass School, Haystack School of Craft and Penland School of Craft in the U.S. She currently teaches glassblowing at the Haliburton School of the Arts, Haliburton Ontario.
Rankin has exhibited extensively across Canada, the US, Belgium and Japan. Her pieces are held in private, corporate and public collections in Canada, the US and Belgium.
