Biography

Natsuki Takauji was born in Tokyo, Japan, currently lives and works in NYC. She is an interdisciplinary visual artist, an instructor at The Art Students League of New York where she also leads the Model to Monument public sculpture program, a co-founder of The Artist Gardener NYC to activate the local communities through art and educational programs in the gardens across NYC, and a director of Metal Sculptures at Sculptors Alliance, Inc. for which she has curated exhibitions: "METAL" at Governors Island in 2017 and a virtual exhibition “Flux” in 2020. She has shown at Lithuanian Alliance of America, Berkeley Collage Gallery, Lesley Heller Gallery, NY, the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, NE, the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ, Palazzo Mora in the 16th Venice Biennale, Italy, NADA Miami, FL, Affordable Art Fair NYC, and more. Her public sculptures were exhibited across New York; Riverside Park South and West Harlem Community Garden, Manhattan, Van Cortlandt Park, Bronx, and Rye Town Park, Rye. Her recent project during the ArtPort Residency at the LaGuardia Airport was exhibited in The Immigrant Artist Biennial. Her works are held as a permanent collection of Yuko Nii Foundation and Port Authority NY&NJ. She was awarded grants from the Queens Council on the Arts, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, New York City Council, NY Foundation for the Arts, and more. She studied visual and literal art at The Art Students League of New York, School of Visual Arts in NYC, and Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.
