About Minecraft Totem

Inspired by Minecraft--one of the most popular video games first created in 2009, Viktor Mitic has fabricated an imaginative tower of bright colours and form. Like the world created in the game itself, Mitic’s sculpture is an assemblage of geometric shapes—cubes or blocks stacked one atop the other. The base material is stainless steel coated in a stunning mix of 24 kt. gold and paint—hot pink, purple and turquoise punctuated by black.

“I'm not a gamer but I have enjoyed playing them. Minecraft was a 'cool' one where I saw opportunities to create sculptures.” Viktor Mitic

Serbian-born Mitic earned a BFA from the University of Toronto in 1995 with studies in art history at Sheridan College. He has exhibited his post-Pop inspired paintings, prints and colourful abstract sculptures at the Muramatsu Gallery in Tokyo, The Armory Show in NYC, Art Chicago and in Toronto. His work is held in corporate, private, and public collections.
