About the Work

Life sized white, cast resin figure of a girl in a short sleeved dress and short boots stands on a white rectangular plinth. She holds a drooping stuffed dog in one hand and wound round the other is a string connected to three folded paper boats also cast in resin and painted white. The child's face is set in an expression of deep sadness. In this work, the use of white only focuses the viewer's attention on the story of the child and elevates it. This work was exhibited at the contemporary art fair, Artist Project. W.W. Hung studied architecture at the University of Waterloo, where he earned a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, and a Bachelor of Architecture in 1997. After graduation, Mr. Hung relocated to New York City, where he worked with several leading design firms. In 2004, he became a member of the American Institute of Architects.
