About Variegated Environment

The luscious, expressive paintings of Adam Cohen have won him critical international acclaim. The American artist’s abstract paintings are valued for their distinctive colour palette, gestural form and rich texture. Cohen’s paintings are thickly layered—cut into with a palette knife when the paint is still wet. This piece is a tapestry of deep blue, red, pale yellow, purple, orange, pink, green and black played against a bright white background.

Adam Cohen studied at Philadelphia’s Tyler School of Art and lived and painted in Rome for a year. After many successful years as an illustrator in NYC, he returned to his first love--painting. Adam Cohen lives and paints in New York state. Cohen has exhibited extensively in the US, Europe, Asia and most recently in Amsterdam and Venice.
