About Solace

An o-ring cloud of milky blue on shimmering layers of charcoal appears to float out of the picture plane and towards the viewer. It hovers above a flurry of glyphic script underlined by strips of candy red and yellow at the foot of the canvas.

The artist refers to the calligraphic marks in her paintings as visual poetry: "Over the course of creating these paintings, a visual notation slowly unfolds into its own form of resonance like ripples of language dancing in space, water and time." ~ Alice Teichert

Alice Teichert, RCA, was born in Paris, France, in 1959. She studied music, philosophy and visual arts in Belgium and France. Since 1989, she has built an international career with over 40 solo exhibitions in Canada, France, Switzerland, Germany and Australia.
The recipient of numerous awards, in 2024, she was inducted into the prestigious Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA) in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the visual arts. Alice Teichert’s paintings are held in many private, corporate and public collections worldwide.
