About Text - Amour - 18/38

In this serigraph on paper, layers of soft yellow, pale peach and moss green provide an illuminated ground on which calligraphic gestures in crimson, black, mustard yellow and various blues, like a written letter or musical score, signal the meaning of the work. Titled Amour or Love, this missive in an invented, glyphic language hints at a deliberate and global communication. This print is number 18 in a series of 38. It is part of a larger eight-piece series titled "The Test is Still Unwritten No. 8".

Teichert refers to this as visual poetry: "The notation of language has always held more fascination for me than the verbal or auditory expression of it. Reading and absorbing the images of many manuscripts, sheets of music or pages of scripted writing throughout my life has always led me to that curious space between perception and interpretation."
