Latitude is one of a series of sculptural wall hangings by Canadian artist, Alice Vander Vennen. Each frame of this mixed media assemblage tells its own story and invites the viewer to interpret its contents. A child of immigrant parents who left war-torn Holland, Alice has used her art to capture stories of loss and hope, courage, and strength.
“Reimagining the familiar, my contemporary compositions invite connection with ancient wisdom and emergent stories through engagement with the natural world. This work pushes that form into the sculptural realm, exploring new possibilities of shadow and light, and invites a deeper dialogue with place.” Alice Vander Vennen
She trained as a sculptor at Calvin College, USA, and also at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Alice Vander Vennen’s work is in public, private and corporate collections both here and abroad.
