About Shamsé 2
This monumental metal outdoor sculpture is rendered in a contemporary geometric form.Amin Sadraei is a sculptural artist whose arresting work is based on the intricate beauty of traditional Iranian designs. Shamsé 2 is part of Sadraei’s architectural form series which pays homage to his roots and reenvisions historical designs in modern form. This bold steel sculpture features two dynamic circular shapes created from several pentagons (5-sided geometric shapes) joined together.
The two shapes are mounted on two shiny black plinths set meters apart but connected by an arch. Shamsé is the Persian name for a special pattern found in Iranian art and architecture.
“Now reimagined in a Canadian landscape, Shamsé becomes more than a reflection of heritage; it is a gesture of belonging. It creates a dialogue between cultures, architecture, and the environment. Its minimalist geometry invites reflection, while its cultural roots offer continuity and meaning.” Amin Sadraei
