About 3 Red Blocks with 1 Black Shape

A striking black archway draws the viewer into a world of vivid colour in this abstract composition by Aron Hill. Pure acrylic ink washes in red, pale orange, green, bright yellow, pale green and gray intersect with crisp white behind the black figure. The Calgary artist’s minimalist work is informed by renowned modernists Jack Bush and William Perehudoff.

“I’ve always approached my work from the standpoint of figurative work, oddly enough and I’m always drawn to figurative work.” Aron Hill

They obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and their MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
