About 7 Rocks with arch

Aron Hill’s newest series of contemporary works are inspired by the personal narrative of their life as an artist, a writer and a parent. Hill recalls the unique bold imagery and clean lines of earlier work—architectural arches, a horizon line, the sun, and rocks.
The colour palette of this piece is neutral black, white and gray. A striking arched line of bright red draws the eye. These pieces are assembled in a collaged manner using acrylic ink, gluing and threading—a process that enhances the texture and adds complexity to the visual narrative.

“These paintings use the recurring theme of rocks as both land markers and altars set against a seemingly empty space or landscape. In both cases, the pieces show a dark sky delineated with an embroidered line. The dark moon eclipses a bleached sun, one fully hidden and the other showing its flares. These are nighttime suspensions of space and time.” Aron Hill

Aron Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and an MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
