About Colour Study with 2 Greens
The minimalist colourful ink drawings of Aron Hill are inspired by the modernist art movement. The colour field work of Aron Hill showcases their intuitive sense of colour and a deep respect for the dynamic form of modernists like Canada’s own Jack Bush and the colour palette of French artists like Matisse.
This is one of a series of pop-inspired acrylic compositions that focuses on simply defined organic shapes. Two vertical lines of stacked circles in various sizes draw the viewer’s eye across the canvas. The colours—green, red, sunny yellow, purple and magenta pop against the bright white of the paper. This work on paper is unframed.
“Whether you like Matisse or not, the interest in pure colour I’ve always been fascinated by and drawn to. The idea of pureness in terms of colour and shape and that hard edge has always appealed to me.” Aron Hill
Aron Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and an MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
