About Mule with transparent pack and rocks

Aron Hill has always taken fresh and distinctive approaches to their contemporary artwork. This new series recalls the same strong, simple form—the sun and rocks appear as familiar images but it is the profile of a pack mule that fills the frame.
The colour palette is soft— orange, turquoise, pink, green and gray allow a bright yellow sun to stand out. An inspired use of materials—acrylic ink, collage and thread adds symbolic complexity enriching the visual and personal narrative of each piece.

“They (mules) are considered one of the oldest human-initiated animal hybrids, with a history dating back approximately 5000 years. Bred for endurance, temperament, and overall resilience, they are dependable animals for various forms of labor. The mule highlights the role of care that a pack animal plays. The mule is a unique creature because it does not care for its own offspring, emphasizing its value.” Aron Hill

Aron Hill obtained a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies from the Alberta College of Art and Design and an MFA from Goldsmiths College, University of London in 2006. They have exhibited across Canada and in Dubai. Hill’s work is held in private and corporate collections.
