With its characteristic bright colours and bold form, Aron Hill’s pop art ‘jumps’ from the canvas. The Calgary born artist is known for creating fresh and playful geometric compositions inspired conceptually by the work of the famed modernist Jack Bush.
The viewer’s attention is drawn to the yellow sun—(a signature subject for Hill) in this piece by the curved line of bright blue that divides the canvas. Simple shapes in orange (to the left), hot pink and jet black provide striking contrast.
“The sun is a central element of my work. It serves as the guiding light to the layers of experience translated onto canvas.” Aron Hill
